Chiropractic adjustments for low back and neck pain relief.

Joints of the spine and extremities often become restricted and may cause pain. Our chiropractor, Dr. Kris, can utilize chiropractic manipulation, also known as an adjustment, to restore the natural range of motion and proper function of the affected vertebrae or joints. Following treatment patients experience a reduction of pain and improved movement.

Generally this method of treatment usually involves gentle pressure followed by a shallow thrust into the affected joint, restoring proper motion. This technique can also be accompanied by a “popping” noise which is caused by the release of gas from the joint.

At Michigan Complete Chiropractic & Wellness we utilize manipulation techniques of the Motion Palpation Institute, an evidence informed treatment method.

To date, multiple studies of the chiropractic adjustment have proven its effectiveness and safety as well as shown high levels of patient satisfaction for low back and neck pain.

In 2013 the Spine Journal found “Chiropractic Manipulative Therapy in conjunction with standard medical care offers a significant advantage for decreasing pain and improving physical functioning when compared with only standard care, for men and women with acute low back pain."

More research continues to be published supporting the effectiveness of chiropractic adjustments in treating back pain, neck pain, headaches and many other joint-related conditions.

Why you should see our chiropractor.

Here’s an example. How do you know a door hinge needs some WD-40? You didnt just look at the hinge and know it needed some help. You tried opening (moving) the door and realized the hinge was stuck.

This is similar to the approach Dr. Kris uses to assess the spine and joints of the body. Through a dynamic and gentle movement approach finding restrictions. This often includes examining a patients movements as they walk, squat, bend etc. and then feeling the restricted joints by hand.

Once a restricted joint is found the chiropractic adjustment may be used to restore the proper range of motion and movement patterns of a joint.
